Since the day she was born Megumi was shy and quiet girl and these qualities brought her a lot of trouble in life. Megu's mother died during birth, leaving her with no inheritance or connections, to be raised in an orphanage.
Growing there, Megumi was always ready to help others, taking all the hardest tasks upon herself, constantly putting needs of those she believed to be her friends before her own. She sought approval and warmth, yet because of her modesty and quietness, combined with her shot and stocky figure, kids perceived her as sort of a draft horse, who could be used when needed, and than just left alone. Being often used and manipulated by other girls in the orphanage did not make her bitter, but only deepened her dependence on their approval. Yet, for a long time, she saw no chance to present herself in favorable light to anybody due to her shyness and low self esteem. Until, in middle school, after being made fun of again because of her robust figure, she wondered into neighboring gym, thinking about using her body, honed by a lot of hard work, to finally gain a way to acceptance. She thought about starting weight training, in hopes of getting in some local weightlifting competitions and finally being seen as something more than just another clumsy plain girl. She started training with great dedication and passion, using painful work as a way to forget about her worries. She quickly caught attention of one of the gym's trainers, and soon became friends with her. After a lot of private talks, trainer, seeing Megumi's frustration and anxiety, suggested trying boxing, as a way to teach her both self defense and self respect. At first Megu was opposed to the idea, unwilling to hurt anybody, but gave up resistance after being convinced that boxing is an honest competition, and she would have as much chances to hurt opponent, as being hurt herself. Early training sessions didn't give particularly impressive results, since Megumi apparently lacked talent for boxing, suffering from her clumsiness and slow reaction. But, after putting her in longer sparring sessions, trainer noticed some promising traits - Megu's stamina and sturdiness, both amplified by her resolve and readiness to take punishment, made her an excellent fighter for long bouts. She was able to tire her sparring partners out, and, after making them lose concentration because of exhaustion, bring them down with not very precise, yet extremely powerful punches. Seeing progress, Megu went pro after finishing high school, setting regional champion title as her first major goal.
